Spread your wings and fly

Sun Jul 2, 2006, 6:21 AM
I just got back from a week on "Star Island", on the isles of shoals off the coast of New Hampshire, where I participated in the YRUU conference. Everything about the island, within and without, has taken over a part of my brain.

The sense of community was completely overwhelming. I made a bunch of friends amongst people who I can respect and love, who I can laugh and sing with, and who I can open up the deepest and most personal secrets of my heart and soul with, and they me. I know I don't usually gush like this, and it's been a while since I've committed anything to my Journal on DA, but Star made me feel things that I haven't felt in a very long time, and I had to put it down somewhere you know? Star Island is now forever in my heart.

love,
Colin

Finals Finally

Mon May 1, 2006, 8:46 PM
The semester's almost over, finals are coming up ^^

My radio show went particularly well tonight. We had the student body president as a guest, and like, nineteen people IM'd us during the show, it was really cool.

The other day I decided exactly what I want to be when I grow up. I want to be a bridge troll. Like in the three billy goats gruff? I could like, demand gold and sacrifice from passerby and stuff like that, that would be freakin sweet.

Guess how much a "hit" of LSD costs? Guess! 5 dollars! With a price like that, how could you afford NOT to trip??

I'm gonna be nineteen soon. That's gonna be kinda cool...except I'm like, slowly turning into a grizzled old man. The step from eighteen to nineteen isn't as monumental as the previous step from seventeen to eighteen, but it's still another landmark of my life...and a step closer to becoming a bridge troll.

love,
Colin

Shelter from the Storm

That's a Bob Dylan song, it's pretty good :)

Schools going pretty well, last night I was heckled by the security guards though, they were total dicks, heh. I'm pretty freaked out about tomorrow as well, I'm getting the results from two mid-terms back. I think I did pretty well on both of them.

Spring break was wild and crazy, I'll spare you the details, save for the knowledge that I spent the week with several college aged, tennis playing guys. I'm pretty sure my testosterone levels are off the charts now, and I feel signifigantly stupider. Oh, and I won one of my tennis matches down in south carolina ^^

Today, Shelly and I walked around town for a little bit, and we went to wags for some late lunch, it was very delicious. Later I dropped her off at TJ so she could get to opening night for "into the woods", to all of you acociated with that performance, I hope it went swimmingly well, and I'll definitely see it on saturday ^^

I haven't really seen anybody lately, I've been pretty busy. Never the less, I hope everybody's having a great time with life and everything.

Don't Stop Me Now

If you asked me like, a month ago: Colin, do you think you're gonna be a political talk show host anytime soon? I would have said something like, "strawberry fields forever". Yeah, that's what I would have said. In any case, anyone who's interested can listen from 9 to 10 on thursdays. Just go to the hood college website [link] and find something about "Blazer Radio", yep.

I went to a concert last night with some friends from hood, and my ears are still ringing. Yeah it was like, mostly metal. In fact, it was all metal. I'm not really built to mosh you know? So i just sort of avoided it most of the time, but i still got knocked around a little bit. When a friend and I fell asleep in the mosh pit we walked back to the car and fell asleep, and then when the rest got back we went to one of the guys houses and we all fell asleep. i assume later i'll fall asleep too.

I'm pretty sure The Beatles are gods, and the beach boys are like, demi-gods, and Queen is like, omega god. I've been listening to them all a lot lately, and the more I do so, the more I regret I wan't born in like, 1950.

Robbed!

1 xm radio + components

1 backpack

3 textbooks

1 wallet sized photo of Ashleigh Smith

i'm at a really weird part of my life right now, so sorry if i seem a little out of it, and i don't really mean to dump my problems on you guys, i just needed something to write about, heh. oh, i recieved good grades from my last semester, so that's pretty good news.

i suppose i have to earn another photo of Ashleigh though, the last one was for bringing her wallet to her :)
